KABUL (BNA): Acting Minister of Energy and Water, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, presented a comprehensive report on the ministry’s accomplishments over the past year during a press conference today.
Minister Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor emphasized the ministry’s progress in water management, resource identification, development, and regulation. He highlighted the significant strides made in energy programs, including service regulation and the establishment of the electricity market in Afghanistan.
He noted the key achievements over the past year include the implementation of major irrigation and hydroelectric dam projects, the construction of 117 reservoir across various provinces, and several fortification projects. Notable among these is a 10-megawatt solar power project in Naghlu. Many of these projects have been completed and are now operational, with others nearing completion.
Additionally, he also mentioned ongoing work on critical infrastructure projects such as the Pashdan Dam, the tunnels of Bakhshabad Dam, and the Kajaki Dam.
In the energy sector, Minister Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor highlighted numerous initiatives, including agreements for significant projects such as the 500 kV Arghandi substation, the 500 kV power transmission line from Dasht-e-Khwaja Alwan to Arghandi, and five related substation and transmission line projects. Work on these projects has already commenced.
Furthermore, according to him, agreements for several solar power projects in various provinces have been signed with investors, marking a substantial investment in the country’s renewable energy infrastructure.
