Eight Mosques to Be Constructed Along Kandahar-Herat Highway with 259 Million AFN Investment

KABUL (BNA): The Ministry of Public Works has announced the initiation of construction for eight mosques along the Kandahar-Herat highway, a project valued at over 259.89 million Afghanis. Various construction companies have been contracted for this initiative.
Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesman for the Ministry, stated that the mosques will be strategically located in the following areas: Maywand district in Kandahar, Nad Ali district in Helmand, Gulistan and Farah Rud districts in Farah, Khashrod district in Nimroz, and Shindand and Adraskan districts in Herat. He shared the update on his X account, highlighting that the construction of each mosque is expected to be completed within one year.
In addition to this, the Ministry of Public Works had previously launched the construction of six mosques along the Kabul-Kandahar highway, which are also expected to be completed on schedule.
In accordance with a directive from His Excellency Amir al-Mu’minin, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the Ministry plans to construct a total of 75 mosques along the country’s major highways, with one mosque approximately every 70 kilometers. Each mosque will have the capacity to accommodate 300 worshippers.
