KABUL(BNA) – Highlighting the urgent need for clean energy investment amid climate change, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce met with a Chinese investor to discuss significant solar energy projects in Afghanistan.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Deputy Minister, Mawlawi Ahmadullah Zahid welcomed the investor’s interest in producing solar energy, installing solar panels, and generating electricity to meet Afghanistan’s energy needs.
The Chinese investor expressed a desire to establish a solar production factory with an investment of approximately $40 million USD, which would create job opportunities for around 1,000 people in Afghanistan. He sought the ministry’s cooperation in this endeavor.
In response to the interest, Mawlawi Ahmadullah Zahid, Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, welcomed the investment and spoke about the benefits of investing in Afghanistan.
He reiterated that, given the climate change scenario, there is an urgent need to invest in clean energy production. He assured that the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce is committed to fully supporting investments aimed at the growth and development of the industrial sector.
