KABUL(BNA): Mawlawi Sadr Azam Osmani, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, held a significant meeting with officials and traders from the Afghanistan Chamber of Agriculture and Livestock Products to discuss resolving traders’ issues and facilitating the private sector.
The meeting revolved around addressing the challenges faced by traders, particularly the increase in banking tariffs during the harvest season imposed by Pakistan, issues related to customs, and transportation difficulties for agricultural products.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Osmani highlighted the ministry’s commitment to collaborating with traders to resolve their issues and provide necessary facilities. He emphasized that the ministry is actively working to address these problems and to boost the market for agricultural products during the harvest season.
Meanwhile, traders raised concerns about the increased banking tariffs, taxes, high transportation and shop rental costs, and transportation issues in the Salang Pass during the northern region’s harvest season, particularly for watermelon, melon, and vegetables.
In response to the concerns, Mawlawi Osmani mentioned the finalization of the ministry’s five-year plan for the growth and development of agriculture and livestock. He assured that the implementation of this plan would resolve many existing issues in the sector.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock is striving to create facilities for traders, producers, importers, and exporters of agricultural and livestock products, aiming to enhance the export and sale of agricultural products.
