Concerns Rise Over Potential ISIS Transfers Through Pakistan

KABUL(BNA): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has raised alarms regarding the transfer of individuals to ISIS Khawarij centers via Islamabad and Karachi airports.

In a recent annual report, the Security and Clearance Commission disclosed that new citizens from various Asian and European countries are being funneled into these centers, raising fears of potential attacks in the coming months.

The commission emphasized the significance of Afghanistan as a target for ISIS’s destructive agenda, detailing how these transfers may exacerbate instability and spread terror within the country.

Despite the reported resurgence of ISIS elements, the commission noted that over the past three years, their operations have been largely suppressed, with many members, including foreign nationals, either killed or arrested.

Following significant defeats, ISIS leaders have reportedly fled to neighboring countries, where some factions have begun efforts to regroup and establish training camps in regions like Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, allegedly with external support.

The report also highlighted an overall decline in criminal activity within Afghanistan, citing effective anti-drug measures and the successful enforcement of Islamic law. It emphasized ongoing surveillance and fortified border security, mainly along the Durand Line, aimed at thwarting smuggling and further destabilization efforts.
