Commerce Minister Azizi Vows Strong Support for Private Sector in High-Level Forum

KABUL(BNA): In a significant forum with the private sector, the Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce reiterated that the Islamic Emirate is committed to supporting and fostering the private sector and affirmed the IEA’s support for and cooperation with the United Nations and the international community.

The panel discussion on the opportunities and challenges facing the private sector was convened with the presence of Nooruddin Azizi, the Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce. Participants included representatives from the United Nations, ambassadors, resident diplomats in Kabul, and prominent figures from Afghanistan’s private sector.

The Movement Institute, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, organized a program featuring Haji Nooruddin Azizi, the Acting Minister. Discussions centered on achievements and initiatives benefiting the private sector, challenges faced, the release of frozen Afghan funds, UN program reassessment, foundational and infrastructural initiatives, completion of stalled projects, Afghanistan’s WTO suspension, promoting domestic Afghan products internationally, Islamic Emirate’s private sector prioritization, global cooperation for sectoral growth, support for startups, and international marketing of Afghan products.

In his remarks, Haji Nooruddin Azizi urged the international community to address Afghanistan’s banking challenges, frozen funds, and its membership status in the World Trade Organization.

He concluded that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is committed to supporting and fostering the private sector and reaffirmed that the Islamic Emirate receives support from the United Nations and the international community.
