Afghanistan to Face Argentina in Key Futsal World Cup Group Stage Encounter

 

KABUL(BNA): The Afghan national futsal team will compete against Argentina in their second group stage match of the Futsal World Cup. The match is scheduled to commence at 7:30 PM local time.

In their tournament opener, Afghanistan achieved a 6-4 victory over Angola. Meanwhile, Argentina delivered a commanding performance, defeating Ukraine 7-1.

Both teams are set to field their strongest line-ups, with no players suspended or injured.

Majid Mortazavi, head coach of the Afghan national futsal team, expressed confidence in his players’ readiness and determination. He emphasized that the world will witness a formidable Afghan team in this match.

Conversely, the Argentine head coach acknowledged Afghanistan’s capabilities and assured that they will not underestimate their opponents, recognizing the potential challenges posed by the Afghan team.

This is Afghanistan’s inaugural appearance in the Futsal World Cup, while Argentina, ranked fifth globally, has participated in all ten editions of the tournament, securing the championship in 2016. Argentina has consistently excelled in South American futsal, having won the regional title for eight consecutive years and is considered a strong contender for the World Cup title.

The tenth edition of the Futsal World Cup, featuring twenty-four teams from around the world, is currently being hosted by Uzbekistan.
