KABUL(BNA): Local officials in Balkh Province have announced the inaugural export of 250 tons of potatoes from Balkh to the joint market between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
Qari Amir Mohammad Muttaqi, Head of the Department of Industry and Commerce in Balkh, reported that the potatoes were transported to the joint market without phytosanitary treatment to streamline trade and facilitate the entry of Afghan products into international markets.
Muttaqi emphasized that this milestone will bolster trade relations and provide significant encouragement to Afghan traders.
Additionally, Asadullah Asadi, Head of the Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Investment, noted that future exports to the joint market will be carried out at the discretion of traders without the requirement for phytosanitary treatment. He highlighted that Afghanistan currently exports a range of products to Uzbekistan, including fresh and dried fruits, saffron, aromatic spices, and pressure cookers.
