Afghanistan Bank Governor Attends AAOIFI Annual Meeting in Bahrain

KABUL (BNA): Hidayatullah Badri, the acting governor of the Afghanistan Bank, led a delegation on an official visit to Bahrain to participate in the annual meeting of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) and the Islamic Development Bank.

The meeting aimed to share new developments in Islamic banking among member countries, foster the growth of Islamic banking, strengthen relations between central banks, and learn from the experiences of Islamic countries in this field.

In addition to central bank representatives, the conference also saw participation from representatives of Islamic financial institutions and members of the Sharia Board of Islamic banks from member countries.

Representing Afghanistan were Da Afghanistan Bank’s Acting Governor Hedayatullah Badri, Director General of the Governor’s Office Department, Mr. Sediqullah Khalid, and Director General of Islamic Banking Muhammad Yusuf Saleem.

The AAOIFI, established in Bahrain on February 26, 1991, serves as a cooperative body among Islamic financial institutions and currently boasts over 100 members.

The organization’s vision is to guide the operation of Islamic financial markets, provide Shariah-based financial reporting, and establish standards in Islamic financial markets that contribute to industry growth.
