KABUL(BNA): Afghanistan and Turkmenistan have signed bilateral agreements aimed at enhancing the railway sector between the two nations.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Public Works, Mullah Bakht Rahman Sharafat, the Deputy Director of Railways at the Ministry, who is currently in Turkmenistan as part of a joint economic delegation, signed two key agreements with the Turkmenistan Railway Authority.
These agreements focus on the expansion of Torghundi Port and the construction of a 22-kilometer railway line from Torghundi to Sanobar in Herat province.
The projects are set to commence soon, with Turkmenistan assuming the primary role in both the port expansion and the railway construction.
Notably, Torghundi Port, recognized as a crucial link between Central and South Asia, is expected to benefit significantly from these developments. The expansion will provide enhanced facilities for traders and expedite the transportation of commercial goods.
