Afghanistan and Iran Discuss Joint Initiatives for Agricultural and Livestock Developmen
KABUL(BNA): Mawlawi Ataullah Omari, Acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, met with a high-ranking delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral collaboration in the agriculture and livestock sectors.
According to an official statement released by the ministry, discussions focused on fostering cooperation in various key areas, including agricultural development, livestock management, food import and export facilitation, capacity building for Afghan ministry personnel, and joint investment initiatives.
Minister Omari, while acknowledging Iran’s significant advancements in the fields of agriculture and livestock, expressed optimism that Afghanistan could leverage Iran’s technical and scientific expertise to advance its own agricultural sector. He emphasized the importance of learning from Iran’s achievements to boost Afghanistan’s agricultural productivity and efficiency.
The Iranian delegation reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening mutual cooperation, noting that their primary objective is to deepen cooperation in agriculture and livestock. They also underscored their readiness to provide scholarships for Afghan students and to expand trade ties through enhanced export and import activities between the two nations.
Additionally, the delegation highlighted Iran’s progress in areas such as fisheries, horticulture, the establishment of advanced agricultural laboratories, and the development of research farms, expressing their willingness to share these innovations with Afghanistan to promote mutual growth and development.
