$220M Cement Factory Construction Begins in Jabal Saraj

KABUL(BNA): The construction of a new cement factory in Jabal Saraj, north of Kabul, marks a significant milestone in reducing Afghanistan’s dependency on imported cement. This factory, being developed with an investment of $220 million by Al-Falah Al-Alami Company, is set to transform the country’s industrial landscape.

Mawlawi Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, shared this development on his X account, stating that the Jabal Saraj Cement Factory will have the capacity to produce 5,000 tons of cement daily.

According to statistics, Afghanistan’s annual cement demand is approximately seven million tons. The factory is expected to significantly contribute to fulfilling this demand, alongside other local cement production facilities, moving Afghanistan closer to self-sufficiency in this sector.

The factory is being constructed on a 600-jerib site and will create employment opportunities for around 5,000 people. All raw materials required for cement production will be sourced locally, further boosting Afghanistan’s economy.
