165 New Factories Launch in Herat, Boosting Industrial Growth

HERAT(BNA): 165 large and small factories have commenced operations in Herat over the past nine months. These factories, established in the Herat Industrial parks, span various sectors including food production, construction products, chemicals, and other goods.
Mufti Mohammad Yousuf Seyadi, the spokesman for the Herat provincial government, revealed in an interview with BNA that plans are underway to hand over lands for the fifth phase of the industrial park to investors soon. This initiative is expected to further enhance Herat’s industrial capacity.
Officials from the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines reported notable progress in the province’s industrial and trade sectors. Key measures supporting investors have included bolstering security in the industrial city, reducing import tariffs on raw materials to just 1.5%, and exempting industrial machinery from import tariffs.
Additionally, there has been a marked increase in requests for purchasing industrial land in Herat, with a growing number of investors compared to last year. Currently, a total of 1,163 factories are operational in various sectors across Herat province, signaling a positive trend for the region’s economic development.
